BIRDY Modified 349 Centre Lock Wheelset

Replacing the 349 mid-lock disc brake wheelset with the 18-inch 355 specification is feasible, as there’s minimal difference between the diameters of 355 and 349—only 6mm in diameter and 3mm in radius. The inner tube can still be used, but the outer tire must be replaced to accommodate the change.

Upgrading to the 349 size has its advantages: it offers more tire options in the future, as it allows the use of Brompton tire specifications. Additionally, the folded size of the bike becomes more compact, and the overall weight is reduced. This modification is ideal for those who are not focused on speed but are looking for a lightweight and practical solution. After all, the primary consideration for folding bikes should be their compactness when folded.
